The beginning longarm class is $90 for six full hours of training on the Nolting Pro 24 Longarm Quilting Machine.
You also need to bring your lunch, or plan on making a BRIEF trip to a local restaurant where you can "grab and go".
The classes are limited to TWO people per class to allow adequate time to learn the machine and practice.
In the class, you will learn to load your quilt using the "red snapper" system and the basics of using the machine, such as bringing up the thread from the bottom, starting and ending. We will cover basic free motion quilting such as all-over loops, swirls, loops and stars, etc. We will also cover using an all-over pantograph pattern. You will learn how to set up the pantograph and use the laser light to follow the pantograph pattern.
By the end of class, you will be able to quilt an all-over design on your own quilt.
Please bring a blank, unlined sketchbook and a pencil for "doodling" out some original designs.
Also bring a regular tablet for taking notes.
A small set of scissors (we suggest using the "cling-on" to keep those scissors close!)
Cotton Candy will provide a practice top, back and batting for your use during class. YOU WILL GET TO TAKE THIS PRACTICE PIECE HOME WITH YOU!
Once you've taken the basic Long Arm Class, we invite you to rent the long arm machine by the hour and get those quilt tops made into quilts! The machine rents for $20/hour. The fee includes thread and use of our edge-to-edge pantograph patterns. Machine rental is by appointment only, and the hours are flexible.
We have battings and backings available in the shop for your use when you're ready to quilt your next quilt!
Class Refund Policy:
CLASS FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE. CANCELLATIONS A WEEK OR MORE IN ADVANCE WILL CREDIT YOUR ACCOUNT FOR A FUTURE CLASS. CANCELLATIONS LESS THAN A WEEK PRIOR TO YOUR CLASS WILL RESULT IN FORFEITURE OF YOUR CLASS FEES. THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING!
Long Arm Use Policy:
To rent our Nolting 24 Pro Long arm, our longarm quilting training class is REQUIRED. If it has been more than six months since you have taken the class or used the machine, you will be required to pay $20 for a "mentor" to help answer questions. Regular use will help strengthen your skills AND will help you stay familiar with the machine!
If it has been more than a year since you have taken the class OR quilted a quilt on the Nolting Pro, you will be REQUIRED to re-take the longarm quilting training class.
There are absolutely no exceptions to the above rules.
